Motorcycles & Babes

I've only been on a motorcycle once when I was 12 years old. Lately, I have had the need for speed. When I found out I was going to ride one, my first thought was, "What am I going to wear?"

A spiked black jacket of course!

I rode from Atwater Village through Laurel Canyon at sunset. Incredible fun!

I think I want a vintage bike now.

Shia Labeouf / Sigur Ros -Fjogur Piano / Hypnotic

I normally wouldn't post a music video but I am enamored with this one!  The wardrobe. The dance. The song. I think everything about this video is genius.
It gives me goosebumps every time I watch this. I had to SHARE it with everyone.

Enjoy.

And I just noticed that I actually own the identical vintage fur vest Shia is wearing in this video except mine is a dark plum purple.... (How cool!)

Safari Summer

I got this amazing tiger printed shirt from Jake Grigg's sister Kasey from Australia. I added a vintage skirt and leather belt to give it a more safari feel. Add some old rusted bangles, turquoise jewelry and brown booties and I'm ready for the day.

Batman, The Dark Knight (vintage gal) Rises

I just saw  The Dark Knight Rises in theatre and I must say that movie was incredible! I was very inspired by the flick & thought it would be a great time to wear my vintage Batman tube top dress. It began as a dress then I added a polka dot skirt from American Apparel then a vintage leopard belt to make this look complete and fun. I love to mix and match prints but if it's not done right it can look a bit tacky. So, DONT go overboard with it...

And as for you Jake Grigg, I will get back to you on who's got better vintage threads. I'll hit the streets of LA and I will post my version of LA style!!!

Sydney Vintage

I am in Sydney at the moment on a vintage hunt. After a week of walking the streets, shopping for bargains and visiting the amazing Surry Hills markets. I have come to the conclusion that Sydney, may well be the vintage capitol of the world.
Hey Jayde, I think it is time we had a Los Angeles vs Sydney competition!?
Oh and just wait and see what goodies have purchased for the store!!!

In Sequence

Breaking news!!!
A mermaid has been spotted at 'We Dream Of Vintage' headquarters.
Authorities advise to take extreme caution as this sequenced mermaid is looking so fine, that she has the power to make men weak at the knees!!

Late Night Spring Florals

This is what I call "late night spring florals". We found this oversized WOMANS blazer at the Western Costume Sale for 5 bucks!! Good find Jake. It makes for a good statement piece on all black. One of my favorite looks yet of you.  Yes, woman's blazers fit better on men. I hate men who wear bulky blazers that don't fit and they end up drowning in them. So the trick is, check the woman's section for a better fit men! ;) JM

Men: How To Wear Bright Colors

For years there has been a macho connotation amongst guys, that men who where bright colors are fairies. What a joke! This ridiculous implication was even around in the colorful 80's.
Even though there are tremendous bonuses for wearing bright clothing, like attention from the opposite sex and pissing off your dad, some men still find it difficult to break out of the bland and embrace the exciting.
Here are a few tips that might inspire you to do something a little different...

1. Work Your Way Into It
Start off with something halfway between 'fuck you' bright and 'forget me' dull.
Did I mention that this is a vintage women's blazer? I bet you wouldn't have known if I didn't say something right? The best treasures are in the woman's section.

2. One Louder
Wear just ONE bright item. A bright shirt with black jeans, black t-shirt and black boots. The contrast between light and dark is a subtle way of making a big impression.

3. Go For It
Wear the brightest colors you can find! Pants, shoes, shirt, belt everything!
The trick is confidence. You have to own it.

4. Change It Up
Because bright clothing is so memorable, try not to wear the same colorful item to often.  Go shopping!
I just got this little number from the Western Costume Sale in North Hollywood. Thanks Jayde ;)

Good luck,

JG
